Sony is all set for a new State of Play event, and despite rumors suggesting that it has been delayed, it seems like we might end up getting this month as well.

It’s been a year since the PlayStation 5 was launched, but we haven’t got any big exclusives as such apart from Demon’s Souls and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart. Some of Sony’s biggest IPs are still missing from the fray, including fan-favorites such as God of War and Horizon Forbidden West.

A while ago, it was leaked that Horizon Forbidden West has been delayed to 2022. The game was slated to release this year itself, but will now be arriving in the first quarter of 2022 as per reports. This was quite disappointing news for a lot of fans, as they were eagerly looking forward to playing it this year itself.

It seems like Sony is gearing up for another State of Play event, and there could be something exciting coming up there.

PlayStation State of Play Event Possibly Coming Next Week With “Surprise Announcement”

According to James Jarvis, the producer of Future Games Show, Sony’s next State of Play event could be taking place on August 19th. Previously, rumors about an event taking place on August 12th were making rounds on social media, with insider Roberto Serrano stating that the event has been delayed to September.

James further adds that the event will be announced today itself, on 10th August. There will be a number of things to look out for in the event. Firstly, we will be getting an official confirmation about the delay of Horizon Forbidden West, which was leaked previously.

There will be an update on Gran Turismo as well, which will most likely be an announcement about a public beta which as per rumors. In fact, the PlayStation Experience website already allows players to sign up for the event, although they only get a dummy code.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits, which was initially slated to release back in 2020, and got delayed twice, might also be getting an extended look. The game is all set to release on September 21st.

Lastly, and probably the most intriguing of all is that we might get a surprise announcement from Sony in the event. We are not quite sure about what this announcement is, but Sony might have something exciting in store for fans out there.
