PlayStation Store: January Top Downloads Revealed for North America and Europe; ARK: Survival Evolved Tops Both

on February 7, 2017 11:24 AM

Today, Sony released the PlayStation Store’s top downloaded games for the month of January in North America and Europe.

Notably, ARK: Survival Evolved, or ARK: Survivor’s Pack on PS4, topped both the North American and European list for the second straight month. Studio Wildcards’ open-world survival action-adventure game was always likely to top December, seeming it was the only big release that month, but January saw many big releases such as Capcom’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, making it’s second month feat very impressive. Also notable, is the lack of PS4 exclusive Gravity Rush 2 and Sega’s Yakuza 0 in the top 20.

It’s worth nothing that Europe had a substantial January sale, which heavily alters the lists, and additionally makes them harder to read into. As for North America, you can see a similar effect of sales influencing the charts: with games like The Order 1886 and Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition charting were they normally wouldn’t.

Personally, I’m happy to see indie farming simulator, Stardew Valley, coming in at number 15 on the NA charts, showing that even indies can tussle with AAA games in a month that saw a few big releases and numerous discounts on AAA games.
