As reported by Insider Gaming, credible leaker The Snitch has recently showed up in his Discord channel with a new leak, suggesting that their sources have confirmed a new PlayStation announcement is on the way for some third-party projects. Nothing more was shared by the leaker.

The Snitch announced last year that he would no longer leak anything about gaming industry, but it seems the trustworthy insider may have changed his mind in 2023, though this one is more of a report than a leak as the news comes from The Snitch's sources.

Despite the fact that The Snitch has a record of almost 100% true leaks, you should still take the news with a grain of salt until official data arrives. Prior to Sony, Xbox had already announced a Developer Direct showcase for later this month, during which the company will share a new look at Minecraft Legends, Redfall, and Forza Motorsport, along with a new announcement for The Elder Scrolls Online.

If the leak turns out to be true, it could possibly be a timely opportinity for PlayStation to show off some new projects, whilst its direct rival has planned a showcase as well. Unfortunately, we have no information on what games or which companies would appear in the rumored PlayStation showcase, but it might be the first State of Play show for 2023.

Silent Hill Shattered Memories Harry Mason in the Woods

Late last year, there was a Silent Hill showcase, and multiple projects from the series were announced, some of which were PlayStation console exclusives. It is yet to be seen whether we will see new details about previously announced third-party projects or witness new partnerships.

Regarding the fact that PlayStation VR 2 is supposed to be launched in March 2023, we should take the possibility of some VR showcases into account as well. Last year, Sony revealed a number of VR titles from both first-party and third-party studios that will be available for PSVR 2 in 2023. Unfortunately, the leak doesn't specify which platform of PlayStation is set to be the main target of the possible announcements.
