Pokémon: Detective Pikachu Adds Granbull in its Latest Trailer
Pokémon: Detective Pikachu is expanding its already robust cast of creatures with the addition of generation 2's Granbull.
It’s been quite some time since we heard from the great electric mouse detective, but it seems he’s ready to clamber out of his poké ball once more to advertise the upcoming live-action movie Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.
A recent tweet from the movie’s official Twitter account contained a short video feature a mix of new and old clips. While we get to see some great scenes again featuring exploding cars, a roaring Charizard, and tons of other pokémon. However, we also get a peek at a pokémon that hadn’t been revealed until now.
Amidst the madness and comedy, there is a brief scene showing a Granbull in what appears to be a police station. The fairy type is standing next to a cautious detective. The brief shot then cuts to a Mr. Mime before ending on a fart joke.
Granbull is no stranger to the big screen. It made its debut in an animated short called Pikachu’s Vacation which ran before the original Pokémon movie in theatres more than 20 years ago. The Johto native has been a mainstay of the franchise since Pokémon: Gold Version and Pokémon: Silver Version.

He stumbles upon a Pikachu, played by Ryan Reynolds, and can somehow understand what the pokémon is saying. Together, the pair rushes off on a whirlwind adventure to uncover the truth of Tim’s father’s disappearance.
