Tokyo-based studio Game Freak is mostly known for the Pokémon franchise, but they also release smaller games on other platforms. You possibly heard about Tembo the Badass Elephant and the recently-released 2D action adventure game Giga Wrecker.

Giga Wrecker is currently available only on Steam, and Director Masayuki Onoue, who worked as a Programmer on several Pokémon games, appeared on a stage event at BitSummit in Kyoto.

Onoue-san mentioned that the possibility of a release of the game on other platforms depends on the feedback and support of the fans. He also added that the studio hopes to release an update for the game in June.

Interestingly, Onoue-san also hinted that he’s currently working as a programmer on another project. He did not provide further details on this, but that’s the role he mainly covered on Pokémon titles.
