We're now just a few days away from August, meaning that we're just a few days away from some new possibilities in Pokemon GO.

August is the last month of "The Season of Discovery" and the first full month that the game has had since turning five, meaning there's likely to be plenty to get excited about.

Looking ahead to the month, there will of course be the mainstay events but there are also a few more that have been confirmed.

So, with that in mind, let's take a look ahead to Pokemon GO in August 2021 and every event that we know about so far.

Pokemon GO August 2021 Community Day

August sees the return of a fan-favourite Pokemon to Community Day, one which has featured a couple of years back.

This month sees the Evolution Pokemon, Eevee, step into the spotlight, with its last Community Day coming almost exactly three years prior in August 2018.

This year's Community Day effectively takes place across four days. From Friday, August 13 (10 am local time) to Monday, August 16 (10 am local time), any Eevee that is evolved will learn the special Community Day move.

The main event, which features an abundance of wild Eevee, quarter hatch distance for Eggs and increased Eevee shiny rates will take place on August 14 and 15, from 11 am to 5 pm local time.

Below, you will find the special move that each Eeveelution can learn over the course of the weekend:

  • Eevee: Last Resort
  • Vaporeon: Scald
  • Jolteon: Zap Cannon
  • Flareon: Superpower
  • Espeon: Shadow Ball
  • Umbreon: Psychic
  • Leafeon: Bullet Seed
  • Glaceon: Water Pulse
  • Sylveon: Psyshock

Ultra Unlock Part 2 and 3

As I write this, players are deep into the first part of the Ultra Unlock events, which is related to "time".

The time portion sees older and newer Pokemon appearing more frequently in the wild, in eggs and in raids,

Following part one, and kicking off on August 6, is, you guessed it, part two. This time out, the event will be focused on "space" and will see Pokemon appearing in unusual areas.

This includes Heracross (plus its Shiny Form), Heatmor, Durant, Shelllos and Basculin.

The final part of the event remains a mystery and is simply titled "??". It begins on August 20 and will likely correlate with the appearance of Hoopa during this year's GO Fest.

August 2021 Pokemon GO Spotlight Hours and Raid Hours

As always, August 2021 will play host to weekly Spotlight Hours and Raid Hours.

The Spotlight Hours (which have yet to be announced) will take place every Tuesday at 6 pm local times.

The Raid Hours take place at the same time on the following day. It's likely that the pattern will be as follows:

  • 4th August - Dialga
  • 11th August - Palkia
  • 18th August - Palkia
  • 25th August - ?? (Related to Ultra Unlock Part 3)

Could Any Events Return from August 2020?

With the introduction of Mega Evolutions aside, August 2020 was a quiet month in Pokemon GO.

There was a vote for Community Day and a couple of makeup events from GO Fest, but aside from that, nothing really happened. That means if Niantic is going to throw another event, it's going to have to be something different.

That being said, with the Ultra Unlock Part 3 running through until August 31, it's likely that this will be it.
