Pokemon GO Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Collection Challenge, How to Complete and Rewards

Find the six Pokemon you need to get the latest medal.

November 16, 2021

Pokemon GO is celebrating the impending release of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl with a special event that includes a brand new Collection Challenge for players to complete.

Collection Challenges were introduced earlier this year as part of the various regional celebrations that led up to the Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto event and have been around ever since.

These challenges always require players to catch certain Pokemon in a period of time to receive specific rewards and this time the focus is on the latest entries in the Pokemon series on Nintendo Switch.

What Pokemon Are Required for the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Collection Challenge And How Can You Find Them?

The Pokemon GO Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Collection Challenge features Pokemon that originally made their debut in the Sinnoh region, specifically focused around the starters.

However, this Collection Challenge is different from ones in the past, with it focusing on only a few Pokemon with two different variations of each.

There are six total Pokemon that you will need to catch to complete this Collection Challenge, which are as follows:

  • Turtwig (Lucas’ Hat)
  • Chimchar (Lucas’ Hat)
  • Piplup (Lucas’ Hat)
  • Turtwig (Dawn’s Hat)
  • Chimchar (Dawn’s Hat)
  • Piplup (Dawn’s Hat)

As you can see, there are six total Pokemon that you need to find and capture during this event, which are two variations of all three Sinnoh starters.

The festivities start with the Brilliant Diamond half of the event that takes place from Tuesday, November 16 at 10 am and runs through Thursday, November 18 at 10:00 am local time. During this 48 hour period, you will find the three starters with Lucas’ Hat spawning in the wild and the three starters with Dawn’s Hat available through Field Research tasks.

This switches starting on November 18 at 10:00 am with the beginning of the Shining Pearl half of the event that runs through Sunday, November 21 at 8:00 pm local time. During this part of the event, the Dawn’s Hat Pokemon will be spawning in the wild, while the Lucas’ Hat Pokemon will be available through Field Research.

There will be other Pokemon spawning as part of the event as well in both parts, so just keep checking around and you shouldn’t have too much trouble getting at least one of each to complete the Pokemon GO Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Collection Challenge.

What Are The Rewards For The Latest Collection Challenge?

The various Pokemon GO Collection Challenges over the last year have been relatively hit and miss when it comes to the rewards for completing them.

Every one of them comes with a collector medal that you can add to the collection, but they also come with other rewards as well and the Pokemon GO Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Collection Challenge is no different.

For completing this latest Collection Challenge in Pokemon GO, you will get 1,000 XP, 3,000 Stardust, and a Froslass encounter. It is disappointing that they didn’t throw something in like a Poffin or the like from last Collection Challenges, but the Froslass encounter can be really good considering Froslass is a good GO Battle League option in multiple cups.
