Pokemon Go's latest update is sparking a lot of debate in the community, and fans are definitely not happy with the latest set of changes that have been incorporated in the game.

Since its release back in 2016, Pokemon Go has managed to not only build a crowd for AR-based games, but has been one of the most popular on mobile as well. Much of the game's success is due to the constant efforts of Niantic to add new stuff to the game.

Last month was one of the biggest in the game's history with a large number of events taking place in the game. This includes the much coveted Go Fest, along with other smaller events such as Raid Hour, Spotlight Hour, Community Day and ofcourse' Bidoof Day.

Today, Pokemon Go has received a big update which has added some interesting, or rather controversial changes to the game.

Pokemon Go Distance Change Explained - What is the new interaction distance for PokeStop and Gyms?

If you have been playing the game since last year, you might be well aware of the fact that Niantic had introduced tons of changes to the game owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes made it easier for players to play the game amidst the lockdown restrictions.

As part of the changes, Niantic reduced the interaction distance for PokeStop to 40m from 80m. While it has been stated that Gym interaction range has also been changed, datamine shows that it is still equivalent to the previous value of 2000m.

How to Sign Petition against the change?

To no surprise, the community is not at all happy about the changes considering the fact that many countries still have restrictions imposed due to the pandemic. On top of that, the Delta variant is on the spread as well, so many precuationary measures are being taken in other countries as well.

At the time of writing this article, around 130k people have signed a petition on Change.org asking Niantic to reverse its update. You can find the petition using the link here, and can sign it.
