Since its launch in 2016, Pokemon GO has continued to be a driving force in socially-driven gaming experiences for players around the world. While traditionally summer is when players from around the world gather together for Pokemon GO Fest to catch Pokemon and experience special events together, this year's event is taking a bit of a different form due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Instead of an in-person gathering, developer Niantic is bringing the experience to players this summer, with tickets now on sale for this year's GO Fest.Niantic has announced that tickets are now on sale for Pokemon GO Fest 2020, which will take place from July 25-26, 2020. The GO Fest tickets can be purchased through the in-game shop for $14.99 (+ tax), and will give players access to both days of GO Fest when the event goes live.

Niantic also detailed a bit more on what to expect from this year's Pokemon GO Fest and its shift to an online format. Specifically, the developer explained that each day of the event will feature a Special Research story that players will work together to complete throughout GO Fest, along with unique experiences taking place on each day of the event.

The first day of the event (Saturday, July 25) will feature five themed habitats--fire, water, grass, battle, and friendship--that will allow players to catch special Pokemon focused around each of the habitats, which will rotate every hour throughout the day. Players will also be able to work together to complete tasks in the Global Challenge Arena, which will provide collaborative challenges during the run of the event.

For the second day of Pokemon GO Fest (Sunday, July 26), Niantic is currently keeping what is in store a secret, but said that it is "something very different." Aside from that, players will also have access to another Special Research story to complete, and the company is working on a GO Fest web page with lounges for players to take breaks and chat with other players, participate in giveaways, and more.

In addition to the events of Pokemon GO Fest 2020, Niantic also detailed that a special GO Fest 2020 T-shirt will be available to purchase from the game's merchandise store. Players can also download a special collection of printable Pokemon GO-themed decorations at home to go along with the weekend's events.

Pokemon GO is available now on iOS and Android, with the upcoming Pokemon GO Fest to take place from July 25-26, 2020.
