For Pokemon GO players, the release of a new generation of Pokemon is one of the highlights of the game. Since the game's release back in 2016, we've had the joys of seeing Pokemon from seven different regions - Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Alola, and Galar, leaving Kalos as the only region without any representation in the game.

That was until yesterday, when the new Kalos Celebration event went live, introducing a whole range of new Pokemon from X and Y. To celebrate the update Niantic has released a new trailer, which showcases all of the new monsters plus teases the next set of legendaries coming to the game.

Included in the first wave of new Pokemon and in this trailer are Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Bunnelby, Fletchling, Litleo, Noibat and their respective evolutions. The base forms of all of these will be appearing more frequently in the wild. Kelfki will also be available, but only in France and small areas of surrounding countries.

At the end of the trailer, we get a look at the three Legendary Pokemon who are likely to be coming to the game next, the headliners from X and Y, Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde.

These new additions now mean every current generation of Pokemon is represented in some format, although both Alola and Galar only have a handful of creatures within the game.

The game is currently undergoing its biggest changes in some time with the "GO Beyond" update. This new update brings a raft of improvements to Niantic's AR hit, with the level cap lifted to 50, the introduction of seasons and a range of different events. These are all accompanied by a range of smaller UI and feature updates that include the ability to tag groups of Pokemon, more refined search options and more.
