If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on a Zapdos or a Mewtwo then you’re in luck. Today the Pokémon Company and Niantic announced that Legendary Pokémon will finally be available in their hit mobile game Pokémon GO.
In order to obtain these rare monsters, players will have to participate in a Legendary Raid, which like every other thing in Pokémon GO will appear around the world. After the Pokémon has been defeated, all players who took place in the raid will receive it as a gift.
Exactly how these rare beasts will show up in the world is a little tricky. Niantic says that if the entire community is able catch enough normal Pokémon during certain Pokémon GO Challenge Fest Windows, than the Legendary Pokémon should start appearing at Grant Park in Chicago during Pokémon GO Fest on July 22nd, 2017. If these players succeed in completing the raid (which they more than likely will) then Legendary Pokémon will begin to appear around the world.
As of the time of this writing, its unknown what Pokémon will be available in the raids, however the trailer, which you can check out at the end of the article, features Zapdos, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Articuno, Moltres, and Mewtwo.
Pokémon GO was originally released on July 6th, 2016, and is available on iOS and Android devices.
