It seems like there's almost an event a week in Pokemon GO's Season of Legends.

Last month saw the likes of Charge Up and Searching for Legends, and this month, joining the Tricky event and Spring into Spring event is the new Rivals Week.

This event focuses on Pokemon that don't particularly get along and celebrates "rivalries between Pokémon." It will include a the first appearance of Therian Forme Landorus, as well as two new debuting Pokemon - Skrelp and Clauncher.

But, in Pokemon GO, what are Skrelp and Clauncher and are they any good?

Rivals Week Event Details

Rivals Week kicks off on Tuesday, April 13 around the world and will begin at 10 am local time. It will then finish at 8 pm local time on Sunday, April 18.

It will see rival Pokemon appearing in the wild, in raids and in eggs and will include pairs such as Nidoking and Nidoqueen, Zangoose and Seviper and Makuhita and Meditite.

Alongside these are the pair of Skrelp and Clauncher - let's take a look at them.

Pokemon GO - What is Skrelp?

Skrelp is a Water and Poison-type Pokemon that best resembles a sea horse made out of kelp/seaweed.

It made its debut in Pokemon X and Y and is known as the Mock Kelp Pokemon.

In the games, once hitting level 48, Skrelp evolves into Dragalge. It's been confirmed this translates to 400 candies within Pokemon GO.

Upon evolution, Dragalge loses its Water typing and instead becomes a Poison/Dragon-type Pokemon.

Pokemon GO - What is Clauncher?

Clauncher is another aquatic Pokemon, this time known in the games as the "Water Gun Pokemon".

It resembles a cross between a shrimp and a crab/lobster and sports one big claw. Like Skrelp, Clauncher made its debut in Pokemon X and Y.

At level 37, Clauncher evolves into Clawitzer and looks relatively similar, apart from the fact that its claw becomes significantly larger.

How can I get Skrelp and Clauncher in Pokemon GO?

Both of these Pokemon should hopefully be relatively common to farm candies during the Rivals Week event.

Niantic has confirmed that the Pokemon will be appearing in the wild, in raids and as rewards for completing special research tasks.
