Pokemon GO Tour Kanto Ticket - How to Get Shiny Mew

Time to revisit Kanto!

Following last year’s ultra-successful Pokemon GO Fest, Niantic has put together another event where trainers can play from home. The event, titled Pokemon GO Tour Kanto, takes place on February 20. The tour will allow players to catch all Pokemon from the original games, minus a few version-specific Pokemon — as well as a Shiny Mew. Players have to buy their Pokemon GO Tour Kanto Ticket, select their version and they are off.

Pokemon GO Tour Kanto Ticket – How to select your version:

On the day of the event, players will be asked to choose either the Red or Green version, based off the original games. Unfortunately, you can’t select your version before that and will have to wait until the day of the event. It’s wise to do some research beforehand though as each version will have a handful of differences.

What are the version differences?

The main thing to note and to help you make your decision is the fact that this event releases all of the original 151 Pokemon in their shiny forms. This means that, if you’re a shiny hunter at least, you should base your pick on which version has the most shiny Pokemon you need.

The Red Version has Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, Growlithe, Scyther, and Electabuzz as exclusive Pokemon. The Green Version Sandshrew, Vulpix, Meowth, Bellsprout, Magmar, and Pinsir as exclusive Pokemon. All of these, plus more, will be attracted to Incense.

The event will also bring back all of Kanto’s Legendary Pokemon. Thankfully, these aren’t version exclusive.

One of the crowning jewels of the event is the fact players can catch a Shiny Mew. To be in with the chance of catching the Shiny Mew, players must complete two Special Research Stories. The first Special Research line is called “Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto Special Research story”. On completion of this story, players will earn access to the second set of Special Research, which will lead to “an encounter with a special Pokemon”.

Be sure to purchase your Pokemon GO Tour Kanto Ticket to get your entry into this month’s event.
