In the last game, Pokemon Legends Arceus, we saw quite a unique approach taken by Game Freak. Instead of Pokemon from one generation, we saw Pokemon from different generations being added to the game.

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet Generation 9 Starters Explained

This time around, we have a set of all-new starter Pokemon arriving in the next game. While the details for the evolutions have not been revealed yet here is all we know about the starters.

Sprigatito

The first Pokemon we have is Sprigatito, a Grass-type Starter for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It belongs to the category Grass Cat Pokemon, and its description reads, "capricious, attention-seeking Grass Cat Pokemon." From the looks of it, Sprigatito doesn't boast quite a unique appearance as such. You would find it strangely similar to the already existing Pokemon that is present in the universe. When it comes to its ability, we have that as Overgrow. Overgrow is quite a useful offensive ability as buffs Grass-type moves when the HP is low enough.

Fuecoco

The next Pokemon we have is Fuecoco, a Fire-type Starter for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It belongs to the category Fire Croc Pokemon, and its description reads, "laid-back Fire Croc Pokemon that does things at its own pace." Once again, you would find its appearance quite similar to some of the Pokemon, especially the likes of Pokemon like Totodile. When it comes to its ability, we have that as Blaze. Like Overgrow, Blaze is also very helpful as it buffs Fire-type moves when the HP is low.

Quaxly

The last Pokemon we have is Quaxly, a Water-type Starter for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. It belongs to the category Duckling Pokemon, and its description reads, "earnest and tidy Duckling Pokemon." Quaxly has quite a unique appearance and wears a trendy hat. It will be interesting to see what its evolutions look like. When it comes to its ability, we have that as Torrent. Like Blaze and Overgrow, Torrent can turn out to be quite a blessing in some situations as it buffs Water-type moves when the HP is low.
