Sinistea is one of the strongest Ghost-Type Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and can evolve into Polteageist to make it into an even more powerful foe. Unlike many Pokemon that can evolve from leveling up, Sinistea requires a particular item to do so.

To evolve the teapot Pokemon into its final form, you will need to obtain either a Cracked Pot or a Chipped Pot. This guide will point you in the right direction, so you can find the items you need to get Polteageist.

What Are The Cracked Pot And Chipped Pot?

Sinistea is one of the few Pokemon that has more than one form. When you are out in the wild catching one, you can either get an Antique Form or a Phony Form. The difference between the two is that the Antique Form will have a mark of authenticity while the Phony Form will not. It is hard to tell which type you are encountering in the wild, as the only way to tell is by looking at the bottom of the teacup and seeing if it has a label of authenticity.

Since this Pokemon has two forms, you won't be able to evolve them with the same item. To evolve a Phony Form Sinistea, you will need to use a Cracked Pot. To evolve an Antique Form Sinistea, you will need to use a Chipped Pot. The game will tell you whether or not the item you have is usable on your Sinistea, so you will be able to tell which form of Sinistea you have.

Currently, there is only one way for you to get both the Cracked Pot and Chipped Pot for your Sinistea. You will need to go to the Auction House in Porto Marinada and check its availability through the auctions. In order to participate in auctions, you will have to defeat the Cascarrafa Gym first. Once you have done so, you can head to the market and join any auction you wish.

There will be three people at the market that will allow you to participate in their auctions. The items they sell will reset every in-game day, which is around two hours in real-time. The best method to get a Cracked Pot or Chipped Pot as quickly as possible is to manually change the time on your Switch and skip two hours ahead. Then, you can reopen the game and check to see if one of the auctioneers is now selling a Chipped Pot or Cracked Pot. If not, keep repeating this process until one appears.

The price of these will vary for everyone, but when we found a Cracked Pot at an auction, it started at 3,000 Pokemon Dollars, and we ended up purchasing it at 11,500. The amount you spend could be less or more, depending on how the auction goes.

Once you get the Cracked Pot or Chipped Pot, you can go into your bag and select the item from there. Make sure you have your Sinistea in your party, and then click it to begin the evolution process.
