First introduced in the eighth generation, Dreepy is a Dual Dragon/Ghost-Type that evolves into Drakloak, which later evolves into Dragapult. This Pokemon grows into quite the formidable foe and is a great option to have on your final team in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

These Pokemon are quite a rare spawn in the region of Paldea, so you might have spent some time already looking for it with no luck. However, we have a few key locations you can find the Dragon Pokemon to complete your search.

Updated by Christina Roffe on September 17, 2023: We have updated this article to include a couple of clips on where exactly you can find Dreepy and Drakloak in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet to make your search easier.

Where To Find Dreepy

Dreepy is often found in environments just outside rivers and near wetlands. You can find them near pretty much any stream or river on the map, rather than bigger bodies of water. We found the best spot to spot Dreepy is just outside the city of Levincia, in East Province (Area Two). Keep in mind while you are searching for the Pokemon that it is very small and hard to see, and has the ability to disappear and reappear, so make sure to look closely.

Here's how you can find the Pokemon:

  • First, you can eat or make a sandwich that boosts your Dragon-Type Encounter Power. This will make Dreepy appear more often in the areas you are searching.
  • Then, fly to the East Province (Area Two) Pokemon Center.
  • From here, you can make your way south along the stream until you spot a Dreepy. You should be able to find quite a few in the area.
  • These Dreepy will be around Level 20 to 22, so you should be able to catch one easily with a Poke Ball.

If you're still on the lookout for Dreepy, here is a short clip to show you where you can find it:

Where To Find Drakloak

When you have caught a Dreepy, you can choose to evolve it into Drakloak at Level 50. However, if you wish to not go through the evolution process and would rather catch a Drakloak, you are in luck, as there are a few areas you can catch one in the wild. They are often found in areas by water, mainly near Casseroya Lake. They can also be found in some of the streams and lakes in northern Paldea, especially the ones located by Fury Falls. They will usually be surrounded by a whole group of Dreepy.

We recommend checking the outer areas of Casseroya Lake to find Drakloak. Here is how we caught one:

  • Once again, we recommend you eat something to boost your Dragon-Type Encounter Power. We were able to find Drakloak immediately after eating a sandwich with this power.
  • Start by flying to the Gracia Stones fast travel spot towards the top of Casseroya Lake.
  • When you arrive, head to the rocky area that is closer to the water. We were able to find groups of Dreepy with Drakloak in the middle of this area.
  • The Drakloak here will be around Level 53 to 55, but you still should be able to catch them with either a Poke Ball or Great Ball.

If you still haven't found Drakloak in the wild, watch this clip to aid your search:

How To Evolve Drakloak Into Dragapult

Although you can catch both Dreepy and Drakloak in the wild, you cannot do this with Dragapult. Instead, you will have to evolve your Drakloak to get Dragapult. Luckily, this should be a relatively easy task as you will only need to level it up to Level 60. The Drakloak in Casseroya Lake are around Level 53 to Level 55, so if you join a few Tera Raids, you should be able to get enough Experience Candies to level up Drakloak quickly. You can also enter into battles or send your Drakloak out using the 'Let's Go' feature. Once you hit Level 60, your Drakloak should immediately evolve into Dragapult.
