During today's Nintendo Direct, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield were showcased by Game Freak and Nintendo. Their portion of the Direct highlighted four new announcements, and a trailer featuring them all was released shortly thereafter.

Most notably, two new Pokemon were revealed: Cramorant and Polteageist. Cramorant is a Water/Flying type with an ability called Gulp Missile that gives it an extra attack after using Surf or Dive and catching a fish in its mouth. It's situational, but should be good for players who want to deal a bit of extra damage. Meanwhile, Polteageist, a possessed teapot, is a pure Ghost type with the ability Weak Armor.

Outside of new Pokemon, three other major features were shown. Character customization returns in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, but it is set to feature a lot more variety when it comes to clothing, hairstyles, and makeup. The biggest new feature is camping, which trainers can do at any time on a route in the game. As this game's version of Pokemon Amie, it allows trainers to bond with their Pokemon, and even serves a multiplayer hub as other players can visit your camp. One activity in said camps is cooking curry, which looks to be this game's version of the Poffin.

Though none of these announcements are groundbreaking, the trailer still highlights some cool things players will be able to find in the games. You can check out the full trailer below. Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield release exclusively for Nintendo Switch on November 15, 2019 and are available for pre-order on Amazon.
