Pokemon Sword and Shield The Crown Tundra DLC Releasing On October 22

Take your Sword and Shield adventure to The Crown Tundra in less than a month.

During today’s Pokemon Presents presentation, it was confirmed that Pokemon Sword and Shield’s second DLC, The Crown Tundra, will be releasing in less than a month on October 22 for Nintendo Switch.

The Sword and Shield expansion, which was announced earlier this year in January, received plenty of new information during today’s presentation specifically about The Crown Tundra and what it entails.

The new DLC is confirmed to be adding both new Pokemon and new characters, as well as a couple of new features.

Before today’s presentation, we knew about three new legendary Pokemon, two from the Regi family, Regidrago and Regieleki and then Calyrex. Alongside those, we also knew about Galarian forms of the three legendary birds, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. Today’s presentation further confirmed these six as well as explaining that players will be able to catch every Legendary Pokemon that have been in the series up until this point.

Players will be able to team up with three other trainers to partake in “Dynamax Adventures.” These adventures allow players to explore different paths within Pokemon Dens, reaching Legendary Pokemon towards the ends of these paths.

Alongside the new Dynamax Adventures and returning legendaries, trainers can now take part in the Galarian Star Tournament. This tournament will allow players to team up with any trainer from both Pokemon Sword and Shield, as well as the expansions, to compete in a doubles tournament against some other familiar opponents.

The presentation also shared some additional information about what players can expect regarding Sword and Shield. Launching in November, players will be able to purchase a complete edition of the game, containing either Sword or Shield and the game’s respective expansion pass.

Not only that, it’s now been confirmed that Pokemon Home will soon be integrated with Pokemon GO, allowing players to transfer Pokemon from their real-world adventures, into Sword and Shield. While there’s no date on this, it was confirmed to be coming before the end of this year.

Pokemon Sword and Shield, plus the expansion pass, are available now on the Nintendo Switch, with The Crown Tundra launching soon on October 22.
