Pokémon-Themed Splatfest Incoming, Along With New Costumes for Super Mario Maker and Special Event Pikachu

It seems like the inevitable has happened: Pokémon will be getting its own Splatfest-themed contest in Japan, Europe and North America. Japanese teams will choose either Pokémon Red or Green (with voting on February 20th-21st) and North American/European teams will choose between Pokémon Red and Blue — voting has already started now in the former and will take place at the same time in the latter. In addition, there’s adorable new character art showing the squids wearing Pokémon shirts.

Three new costumes are also available nlw for Super Mario Maker through new event courses. They are based off the first generation’s starters: Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle. Players can repeat the stage three times in order to get the three costumes; these costumes include special sound effects for the Pokémon.

Finally, Japan is getting a special event to celebrate the opening of the Pokémon Center Online service. Through the event, a special Pikachu will be distributed via serial code to people making their first order on the site from February 16th through May 22nd. This Pikachu comes with the moves Surf, Fly, Agility and Celebrate.
