Pokkén Tournament DX Announced For Nintendo Switch

Nintendo is bringing Wii U fighting game Pokken Tournament to Nintendo Switch via Pokken Tournament DX.

June 6, 2017

Today, Nintendo announced during its Pokémon themed Nintendo Direct that it is bringing Wii U’s Pokkén Tournament to the Switch in the form of Pokkén Tournament DX.

The Switch version of the game is set to contain all 16 characters from the Wii U version, as well as the arcade additions of Empoleon, Darkrai, Scizor, and Croagunk, as well as Pokémon Sun and Moon‘s Decidueye.

In addition to that, the game will also feature some new modes, including:

  • 3 on 3 team battles
  • Online ranked matches
  • Friend matches
  • Private group matches

Pokkén Tournament DX will allow players to compete in one-on-one battles using the Switch’s Joy-Con controllers. The game will be compatible in tabletop mode, TV mode, and handheld mode.

This’ll be the first Pokémon game coming to Nintendo’s new console-handheld hybrid. In the Wii U version of the game, players had to unlock some of the game’s fighters, but in the Switch version each fighter will be available right away.
