Few would have expected the worlds of Tekken and Pokemon to be combined for a hardcore fighting game, but in just a few months players will be able to experience just that with the release of the upcoming mashup Pokken Tournament, which is officially confirmed for an early spring debut.
The Pokemon Company announced through Twitter that Pokken Tournament will have a worldwide release for the Wii U version on March 18th, 2016 across the US, Europe, and Japan, following the game’s debut in Japanese arcades last summer.
Pokken Tournament eschews the more traditional turn-based Pokemon formula for a fighting game style in the vein of the Tekken series, with various playable characters such as Charizard, Mewtwo, Garchomp, and more available as playable characters in the roster.
Pokken Tournament is currently available in Japanese arcades and will release for Wii U on March 18th, 2016 worldwide.
