The Nico Nico Douga livestream previously announced earlier this week revealed plenty of new gameplay for Pokkén Tournament, as well as Pokémon combatants and a support system.
We know that the lineup will include Gardevoir, Suicune and Pikachu while the supports will include Lapras, Fennekin, Snivy and Emolga. Combat looks very similar to the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series and supports work in the same way. Said supports can also be customized in terms of movesets, and charge times for these moves can be augmented as well.
Battle mechanics include short and long range attacks, guarding, counter system, combos, specials, and supers. Mega Evolutions are available to the Pokémon that have them for those who do not, Burst Mode will give them similar power ups.
According to the stream, there are several modes to play: Tutorial, Single Player, In-Store Mode and National Battle at the very least. Finally, location test dates have been announced from January 30th to February 1st and February 14th. Bandai Namco will be giving out special Pokkén BaNaPassport cards during the location tests, with pictures of Lucario, Gardevoir, Pikachu, and Machamp. The cards also support NFC.
