Pokemon GO Fest is well underway around the globe and the brand new Special Research event forces players to make a handful of tricky decisions.

There’s a choice between Rock Star and Pop Star Pikachu, a choice between Flygon and Gardevoir and finally, a choice between Galarian Ponyta or Galarian Zigzagoon as players assemble their Pokemon band.

To help you make your decision, lets see if Galarian Ponyta or Galarian Zigzagoon is the best pick in this situation.

Can They Both Be Shiny?

They are indeed. As part of GO Fest, both Galarian Ponyta and Galarian Zigzagoon can be shiny and the two Pokemon have quite contrasting shiny forms.

Galarain Ponyta, a Pokemon which is usually adorned in bright colours, tones things down a little with a combination of pastel greens and yellows.

Galarian Zigzagoon on the other hand takes things to the extreme. The Pokemon, which is usually black and white, suddenly takes on a vibrant maroon colour with light blue eyes and a matching tongue.

If you’re basing it on looks alone, Zigzagoon gets my vote every day of the week.

Are Galarian Ponyta or Galarian Zigzagoon Good in Battles in Pokemon GO?

Usually, I’d base this on their evolutions, with Galarian Zigzagoon clearly winning as Obstagoon is far superior to Galarian Rapidash, however, neither of these Pokemon can evolve.

Therefore, this decision is pretty arbitrary and is solely based on which of the two Pokemon you would prefer to encounter and capture yourself.

For me personally, I’ll be going for Galarian Zigzagoon, but I wouldn’t worry too much about the consequences. You can always trade them.
