The Portal Gun Has Made Its Way to Microsoft’s HoloLens

A clever programmer has brought Portal to the HoloLens. No word on the implementation of cake.

Ever since we began thinking with portals, the iconic gun from Valve’s Portal has been the subject of many a daydream. With a little help from Microsoft’s HoloLens and one savvy programmer, it’s one step closer towards reality.

Kenny Wang, the designer behind the PokéLens, has debuted his most recent project. In the video below, you can see how he has crafted the teleportation device using Augmented Reality technology. Fans of the Portal franchise will instantly recognize the once lost (now found!) Weighted Companion Cube alongside some not-so-friendly turrets.

Although Microsoft’s HoloLens runs about $3,000.00, it’s a small price to pay compared to all of the research costs it would require to create a real portal gun.
