When Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid was announced a couple weeks ago, its debut trailer only featured about ten seconds or so of actual gameplay. Today, a slightly longer thirty second video was released by nWay, Lionsgate, and Hasbro that gives us a better look at Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid's 3v3 gameplay between the previously revealed Red, Green, and Yellow Rangers.

While the stages featured do look quite lackluster for a console game, gameplay does look fast and frenetic with a lot of room for combo potential. Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid's Senior Product Manager Jesse Cherry did state in a recent interview with DualShockers that the developers are "making sure that there are combos that new players can pull off but there are still those complex combos that people who can put the time in can execute on," and this short video seems to confirm that statement.

As I mentioned, the game is a 3v3 fighter; in fact, Jesse Cherry didn't hide the fact that Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is inspired by titles like Dragon Ball FighterZ and the Marvel vs. Capcom series during our interview. He said that those games "have done great jobs of simplifying certain elements while keeping the depth," and revealed that nWay has aimed to do the same with Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid's fighting mechanics. Gameplay-wise, things do look promising form this trailer even if the visuals disappoint.

Despite any reservations one may have after viewing gameplay, nWay is adamant about the fact that Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is not a mobile port and has been "made from the ground up" for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Apparently, nWay also wouldn't mind an esports scene forming around the game if that is what the community desires. Now that we've seen more gameplay, Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid's story is the biggest thing still shrouded in mystery.

You can check out this new gameplay video for yourself below. Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid will release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in April, with a PC release following later in 2019. The game is currently available for pre-order digitally via Battle for the Grid's official website with an exclusive Green Ranger V2 Skin as a pre-order bonus.
