Today, Bethesda announced Prey will be receiving a bunch of new modes, updates and some new DLC at the 2018 Bethesda E3 2018 Press Conference to celebrate the game's anniversary. The updates are available to download now alongside the new Mooncrash DLC, and the game will also be receiving a VR iteration which will feature these new updates.

First up, Prey will be getting three separate singleplayer modes: Story Mode, for those wishing to experience the game's story; Survival Mode, which will put you into a hardcore survival scenario including oxygen levels and a bleed status; and New Game+, a much-requested feature to the original game.

Additionally, Prey will be getting a multiplayer mode called Typhon Hunter, which will pit human players against other players, who will be stepping into the gooey tentacles of a mimic. Essentially, it's going to be a higher budget, more elaborate Prop Hunt, and I'm certainly looking forward to it. This multiplayer mode will be coming at some point in the summer.

To wrap up the news, the space-faring title will also be getting a special DLC called Prey: Mooncrash; the DLC will take place on a secret moon base and include a number of unlockable characters, special skills, and deadly Typhons. This DLC will feature a similar concept to the Radiant Quest system developed for Skyrim, changing each run through of the TranStar secret moon base so that you never play the same thing twice. It's an interesting concept with a great deal of replayability in theory, and you can check it out tonight.

Mooncrash will be an ever-changing experience and is described as the following:

In Prey: Mooncrash, fight overwhelming odds to escape the secret TranStar moon base where the enemies you encounter, the hazards you face, the goals you complete, and the loot you collect are different each time you play. With changing environments as dangerous as they are dynamic, multiple unlockable characters each with their own set of specialized and upgradable skills, and Typhon threats armed with a unique array of deadly characteristics, the Mooncrash campaign for Prey will offer a fun, infinitely replayable challenge to test even the most skilled players. For players new to Prey, there’s Prey: Digital Deluxe, which includes both Prey and Prey: Mooncrash.

Prey's new free update and Mooncrash DLC are available now for PC, Xbox One, and PS4, but the Typhon Hunter mode will not be coming until later on in the summer.

Additionally, Prey will be getting a VR iteration at some point in the future with many of these features available, alongside a few other Bethesda titles as announced in the press conference.
