Prey’s Multiplayer Update Typhon Hunter Finally Arrives Next Week
Arkane Studios is set to release the final major update for Prey on December 11 which will finally bring multiplayer and VR modes to the game.
As first revealed earlier this year at E3, the final update for Bethesda and Arkane Studios’ Prey, known as Typhon Hunter, now has a release date and will be launching next week on December 11.
Typhon Hunter will bring a multiplayer element to Prey and will see one player utilizing the game’s protagonist, Morgan Yu, while five other players will take control of Mimics, the creatures from the game’s universe that can hide as any everyday object found in the world. As Morgan, you’ll be tasked with hunting down all five of your opponents and defeating them before time runs out in the match. There is also a VR version of Typhon Hunter in the pipeline as well, but this won’t arrive until 2019.
Luckily, a new VR mode called TranStar VR will be arriving in this Typhon Hunter update and is instead a single-player experience that works like an escape room. You’ll fill the shoes of different employees who worked upon the Talos I space station mere days before the events of Prey transpired. This mode will be available for play on both PC virtual reality headsets in addition to PSVR.
Lastly, Bethesda released a new trailer today as well for Typhon Hunter which gives you a better idea of what you can likely expect when playing against others. You can see this video attached at the bottom of the page.
If you want to get Typhon Hunter for yourself, all you have to do is purchase the Digital Deluxe edition of Prey or this past summer’s add-on Prey: Mooncrash. Mooncrash itself retails for $19.99 and Typhon Hunter will be coming to all of the game’s platforms — PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
