The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was leaked, then announced, at a Ubisoft Forward event back in September of this year. The title was initially scheduled for release on January 21, 2021, however, a post from the Czech Ubisoft Facebook account (which has now been removed) has confirmed that the game has received a short delay.

The post says that the game has been delayed for just under two months, until March 18, 2021.

Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake Delay

A full translation of Ubisoft's post from ResetEra user NeoRaider reads:

"Greetings, Prince of Persia fans! During our Ubisoft Forward digital conference, we proudly announced Prince's return from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. We are excited to be able to put this game in your hands again as we retell the story of Prince and Farah in the amazing 11th century Persia. However, 2020 was a year like no other. Today we would like to inform you that we need more time to complete the game. With that, the release date of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been moved to March 18, 2021. We believe this is the right decision to ensure we deliver a game you like. Thank you for your patience and continued support of the Prince of Persia, and we hope you remain safe and healthy during this holiday season. Developer team."

This news will allow some fans to breathe a sigh of relief. When the remake was first revealed at the Ubisoft Forward event, viewers expressed their concerns at the visuals of the game. Many stated that it looked dated, with some comparing it to PSP/Xbox 360/PS3 era titles. This lead the game's director to say “…we decided to go for a unique visual treatment to make this game stand out from other games,” however, this didn't go down well with everybody.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will be coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One next year.
