6th Professor Layton Game Confirmed

April 6, 2011

The quirky and addictive Professor Layton series is getting a sixth installment. The news comes by way of Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino. No release or even platform availability details are available for the title at this point. If release history is any indication, it will probably be on the Nintendo 3DS.

The first three PL games have all been released on the Nintendo DS and in North America as well as Japan and Europe. The fourth game in the series, Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Flute went on sale in Japan in 2009 and was also on the DS.

The fifth game, Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle went on sale in Japan just a few months ago in February and is on the Nintendo 3DS and this would lead one to believe that this new title will be on the same platform. While it isn’t confirmed, the Mask of Miracle will probably be localized for a US release, though this is purely speculation. Stay posted for further details.
