Project CARS 3 is the latest driving sim from developer Slightly Mad Studios. The game is due out later this summer. Today, the team gave us a great look at the game in action, along with several of the off-the-raceway upgrades you'll earn as you play. Give the new trailer a look below.

Project CARS 3 looks to build on the solid foundation the team has developed over the last few years. Since launching the original Project CARS back in 2015, Slightly Mad has quickly become one of the premier developers for games that go vroom-vroom. CARS 3 takes that great gameplay foundation and completely overhauls the career mode to give fans another great experience.

Importantly, this is one of the first games Slightly Mad has released since being purchased by Codemasters last year. There is that Fast & Furious Crossroads game coming out later this week. However, CARS 3 is the showpiece for the studio. Even if Crossroads fails (and everything points to that probably being the case), the studio is going to be judged on how Project CARS 3 performs.

Personally, I always find it tough to get into simulation-heavy racers. Give me Need for Speed Underground 2 over Forza Motorsport every day of the week. That said, Project CARS is a great series for fans looking for that type of gameplay. Nothing I've seen thus far has convinced me that CARS 3 will change that. So, if you're looking for a racer and disappointed that the new Forza doesn't have a release date, maybe give Project CARS 3 a look.

Project CARS 3 is set to release later this summer on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. No word yet on next-gen launches, but it would be surprising if those don't come at some point.
