In the past few weeks, developer and publisher PlatinumGames has shared a ton of new details of what is currently lined up for the company's future. So far that has been shown through the "Platinum 4" website, which revealed new projects that the company has in development such as The Wonderful 101 Remastered and a new studio in Tokyo, Japan. One of the biggest announcements so far has been the reveal of Project G.G., a new title being directed by Hideki Kamiya that we know so far features kaiju and one adorable dog. Of course, this begs the timely question for any video game featuring a lovable canine: can you pet the dog?

During an interview with PlatinumGames at PAX East 2020, we spoke with Hideki Kamiya and Atsushi Inaba to learn a bit more about the newly-revealed Project G.G.. Given that the title has just been announced, Kamiya and Inaba weren't able to share too many details with Project G.G. so early in development, but we did at least get some insight on the adorable dog that starred in the trailer and whether or not it can, in fact, be pet.

Kamiya explained that he has "seen all the reactions from fans who clearly love this dog," and in response to the warm fan reception, stated "well yeah, I gotta do something and get that back in there somehow."

Whether or not the dog will actually end up playing a part in Project G.G. remains to be seen, and there's still a lot we don't know about the game yet other than it seeming to pay homage to kaiju and "giant hero stories" from Japan in the vein of Ultraman. Aside from that, Project G.G. will still be a unique project for PlatinumGames as the studio's first fully self-published game, and will act as the final part of the studio's "superhero trilogy" with Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101.

Project G.G. is currently in development by PlatinumGames, though no platforms or a release window have been officially confirmed by the studio at this time.
