If you've been affected by some of the recent natural disasters that have been occurring in certain areas around the world, then you may have some good news in your inbox. Late last night Sony Interactive Entertainment began rolling out PlayStation Plus extensions for players that live in areas hit by the recent hurricanes and floods.

No official blog post or press release has been made by Sony, however, based on initial reports it seems like accounts that have their location set to Florida and Texas will be extended by 30 days. As of the time of this writing, it's unknown whether or not the player's in Puerto Rico will see the same type of extension, or even a lengthier one considering their citizens have been without power for a while now.

As someone whose home was hit by the destructive winds of Hurricane Irma, and was without power for a whole week, it's nice to see companies, including Sony, extending memberships far beyond that needed, in order to compensate for the time lost. It's a small help, but one that's much appreciated.

The email notifying players of the extension will have been sent to the account tied to your PSN ID. If you want to make sure that your account was extended, just sign into your PS4 and click on the PlayStation Plus icon in the top left-hand corner. After doing so you'll need to click Manage Membership icon and then select Subscription.
