Today, Sony has officially revealed the new version of PS Plus, including Essential, Extra, and Premium features with up to 740 games containing some big launch titles.

Over five years after the launch of the Xbox Game Pass, Sony has officially announced a competitor to Microsoft's successful subscription service for the PlayStation audience. This is going to be the re-invention of PlayStation Plus branched out into three different tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium.

The Essential tier is the current PS Plus membership and will be available at the same price as now. The Extra tier includes all Essential benefits in addition to over 400 games from PS4 and PS5 libraries. Finally, the Premium tier includes all Essential and Extra benefits plus over 340 games from PS1, PS2, and PS3.

PS Plus Extra and Premium Launch Titles

When it comes to the launch titles, Sony is yet to reveal the full library of Extra and Premium tiers of PS Plus, but the company did mention a number of high profile games that will be available at launch for both Extra and Premium subscribers:

  • Death Stranding
  • God of War (2018)
  • Marvel's Spider-Man
  • Marvel's Spider-Man Miles Morales
  • Returnal
  • Mortal Kombat 11

Probably we will hear more about the included games in both tiers as we get closer to the launch of the new PS Plus services, but the absence of some iconic PS4 games such as The Last of Us Part Remastered, The Last of Us Part 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Bloodborne among the featured games mentioned above raises some eyebrows!

New tiers of PS Plus will be available in June 2022. The brand new PlayStation Studios games will not be launched directly on any of the PS Plus tiers.
