PS Vita Exclusive Freedom Wars Gets More Info and Screenshots on the Thorn and Abductors

Today Sony Computer Entertainment released a few new pieces of information about the upcoming PS Vita exclusive action JRPG Freedom Wars and a small batch of new screenshots for our perusal.

We learn that at the beginning of each mission a team will be formed with four criminals (the players) and four accessories (their NPC companions), for a total of eight units. Missions are going to take place in various area of the ruined city downtown.

Each criminal has a device called “Thorn” attached to his arm. The thorn can be shot at buildings and elements of the environment and it’ll work basically like Spider-Man’s webs or Attack on Titan‘s 3D Maneuver Gear, letting players dart and swing between obstacles in full 3D . It’s possible to do it even while wielding heavy guns like Gatlings, and mastering the Thorn massively enhances tactical options in battle.

A map of each location will be provided, showing vital information like the position of all criminals and accessories and of their targets. Each map can have multiple targets.

Some of the enemy Abductors we’ll have to face have shields that make them impervious to bullets and even to Gatling guns, and will have to be attacked in close combat. There will also be cases in which we’ll have to fight against multiple Abductors at the same time.

You can check out the new screenshots below, including one of the map, while we wait for any sort of official word about an English localization.
