Today Bandai Namco released a new batch of screenshots and artwork of the upcoming PS Vita exclusive dungeon JRPG Ray Gigant, scheduled to hit Japan on July 30th.

We get to meet the ambitions and smart Kyle Griffin, who is also one of the main heroes of the story, the easygoing ex special forces veteran Connor McBride, and Kogarasu Ryona, a volunteer fighter with a cool and no-nonsense personality and a secret passion for retrogames. She also thinks Connor is way too sloppy.

We also catch a glimpse on some of the enemy Gigant, and we learn a bit about the battle system.

We'll be able to assign three actions to the circle, square and triangle buttons and switch between characters with left and right on the D-pad. Only attack actions can be assigned to circle, defensive actions to triangle, while you can assign either to square.

Each action costs AP (Active Points), which are then recovered during enemy actions.

Stronger and more spectacular actions cost more AP, and they can be executed only when you have enough. Additionally, leftover AP at the end of a battle carry over to the next, so finishing a fight with few AP can lead to a difficult situation afterwards.

AP can also increase out of battle depending on the choices you make during dialogue, while they will decrease if you fall into traps.
