New Content for PS3’s PlayStation Home Goes the Way of the Dodo in Japan and Asia

on August 30, 2013 4:26 AM

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia just announced with a sudden press release that delivery of new content in the Japanese version of PS3’s social virtual world PlayStation Home will cease in September. The Asian region will see a similar action in March 2014. No detailed explanation has been given for the decision.

The announcement also specifies that the weekly release of new content and the service in the North American and European versions of PlayStation Home will continue normally, so the termination seems to be limited to the territories under the jurisdiction of SCEJA.

It’s actually quite a pity, considering that the Japanese version of PlayStation Home was the best and most colorful content-wise. I may very well be alone in this, but I’ll miss it, alongside its wacky gadgets and Gundam statues.
