PlayStation User Discovers ‘Secret’ PS4 Console Tip That Reveals Hidden Trophies

Even though the PlayStation 4 has been out for around six and a half years, there are still some things we still don't know about the console.

The PlayStation 4 is Sony’s eighth-generation console which was launched all the way back on November 15, 2013, in North America so you would think that at this stage, we would know the system we have all come to know and love pretty well, right? Well, apparently not. A poster on Reddit has blown the internet’s mind by revealing a tip that’s been sitting right under player’s noses since it was added into the system update 4.0 in 2016.

Most of us enjoy grinding for those achievements and trophies in the games we play, but there are quite a few that are under lock and key since they can reveal story spoilers, thus making them “hidden,” to stop you from accidentally finding out about anything you might not want to see. If you really don’t give two hoots about spoilers and just want your trophy, RockyBalbubba has just made your life a lot easier. All you have to do is simply select the hidden Trophy, hit X to view its details screen, then press the Square button and all is disclosed before your very eyes. How did most of us never know this?

PlayStation UK ended up tweeting this news out to anyone that needed to hear it via their official Twitter making their comment section blow up with people saying they had no idea this was a thing and they wish they knew this before. Playstation cheekily responded with a meme that says ” and that’s why you always read the system software update notes”.

In this midst of this mindblowing news, some other tips and tricks have been shared. While quite a lot are common knowledge at this stage, there are folks out there that still didn’t have a clue that these tips also existed. Did you know that if your controller is charging, the slower it pulses the closer it is to being fully charged? You can also save battery life with the PS4’s Dualshock 4 by dimming the light bar and if you hold the PS button on the controller, it’ll turn the console on.

A great accessibility tip by Twitter user PixelPodium is that you can enable an option that lets you press the PS Button + Square simultaneously to zoom in on the screen. This valuable little nugget could provide people who do have sight problems with a much better PlayStation experience.

As we near the leap to the next-generation of consoles, check out what former President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America Jack Tretton had to say when asked about Sony and how he thinks the company will do as it launches the PS5.
