During yesterday's alpha test a new area with a new boss was discovered in Bloodborne, and a line seems to indicate a connection with From Software's PS3 classic Demon's Souls.

At the end of the fight the boss says "Sick creature...may you rest in peace... Umbasa"

Demon's Souls veterans will definitely recognize the name "Umbasa," which appears in the game as a blessing/invocation, and has become very popular between its fans.

Whether this is the indication of an actual connection between the lore of the two games, or simply homage to the game that started the Souls series, it remains to be seen. One thing is for sure: it's definitely intriguing.
