PS4 Exclusive Driveclub: Punishing “Bouncing Off Walls” Tactics Considered; Server Updates Coming

on January 18, 2016 5:34 PM

Driveclub has been updated at a staggering rate since its release over a year ago, and today Game Director Paul Rustchynsky mentioned new details on what you can expect in the future.

First of all, players have been having issues with the inability to join clubs, with the game displaying messages about problems in communicating with the servers. Rustchynsky advised that server updates should come this week, addressing the problem.

Secondly, many have been annoyed by the fact that during online races players can exploit the bouncy behavior of the walls in order to go into some corners faster, losing less speed than what they would if they approached the corner correctly. Rustchynsky admitted that this kind of behavior is not punished as it should be, and mentioned that a change is being considered.

Personally, I really hope to see this changed earlier rather than later. While Driveclub doesn’t have its strongest points in the realistic simulation of collisions, hitting a wall should definitely bring much harsher penalties.
