The upcoming PS4 exclusive racing game Driveclub seems to be shaping up nicely, and there are news for the audiophiles among us. Game Director Paul Rustchynsky mentioned during an interview on Edge that he was fighting to keep the game’s music off by default during races in order to let the engine’s roar to be the real soundtrack.
Apparently he won that battle, as he mentioned on Twitter.
Already won. Off by default now : )
In addition to that, he also confirmed that the game will have sound effects when the rain hits the windshield while driving in first person, which is something that many game developers strangely forget to implement.
Rustchynsky has been promising a video showing the weather effects for a while now, but looks like it’s in the final stretch, with a surprise: there isn’t going to be just one.
Lets just say we’ve passed the video(s) over…
My guess is that there’s going to be one for rain and one for snow, but there could be more than that, which is great, as I never say no to videos of a great looking game.
One thing is for sure: Gamescom can’t come soon enough. Rustchynsky confirmed that the game will be shown there (even if he could not say what will be shown), and you can count on the fact that i’ll be there to try it.
