Combining a tale inspired by samurai folklore with dark, twisted enemies and creatures to fight, the long-awaited Nioh from Team Ninja saw its big reveal at last December’s PlayStation Experience event, and now the title has been confirmed for release later this year, while players will also get their first chance to face death in a demo of the game later this month.
In a new update on the PlayStation Blog, developer Team Ninja announced that Nioh is confirmed for release worldwide later in 2016, though no more specific release date or window was given for the title at this time.
As the title was originally announced over ten years ago for the PS3, Team Ninja general producer Kou Shibusawa detailed that the title “will be released in 2016,” adding “in appreciation to all the fans who have waited so long,” the team will be releasing an Alpha Demo of the title for a limited time, with the demo to be available from April 26th through May 5th, 2016.
Players who complete a stage within the demo will also be able to download The Mark of the Conquerer DLC for the final game’s release, that “will entitle you to some special DLC in the full game” on its release, while players can also provide feedback on the game in an online survey before release.
Nioh will release for PS4 in 2016 – in the meantime, you can watch a new trailer for the upcoming Alpha Demo below:
