  6. PS Vita - 4,388
  7. 2DS - 1,656
  8. Xbox One - 107
  9. Xbox One X - 6

First of all, we notice that with 43,808 units sold of its two models combined, the PS4 family overtook the Switch's 37,500 units moved. This is the first time in quite a few weeks that Sony's console manages to leave behind Nintendo's newer hybrid machine. This week the PS4 also passed six million units sold in Japan during its lifetime.

This is partly due to a pretty solid launch of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, which was the only new game released during the week. 105, 667 units were sold until January 14th, topping the chart above Nintendo's best sellers.

That being said, the Switch certainly hasn't run out of steam, and its games pretty much dominate the rest of the chart. Interestingly, Splatoon 2 is holding the lead over Super Mario Odyssey it had last week, proving itself once more as Japan's most beloved Switch game of the past year.

Sales of the console certainly have slowed down, but it remains to be seen how much of this is due to possible renewed shortages (the Switch was nearly impossible to find in Tokyo before the large shipments that came in December), and how much to Nintendo having finally satisfied a sizable part of the demand during the explosive Holiday shopping period.

The upcoming weeks will certainly be interesting, with the Japanese market bracing for the upcoming release of Monster Hunter World.
