Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment released version 4.70 of the PS4 system software.

The update is rather small, as you would expect from one released without public testing and lead announcements. While the patch notes on the console are limited to the usual "improves the quality of the system performance," on the update site we get a bit more color:

  • In tournaments, you can now view match results for each player.
  • This system software update improves system performance.

If you want to download it diretcly on your PS4 or your PS4 Pro, you can simply activate the related feature in the settings.

Otherwise, you can download it from here if you're in North America and from here if you're in Europe.

Keep in mind that when you read about an improvement of the system performance, it means the system software itself, so it's unlikely that you'll see relevant improvements in the performance of the games.

The last large patch to the PS4 system software came back in March, numbered 4.50. It brought external HDD support, custom wallpapers, Boost Mode for PS4 Pro and more.
