Today Sony Interactive Entertainment made the system software update 5.55 for the PS4 available for download on the PlayStation Network.

The update is a bit larger than usual in file size, weighing exactly 460.1 megabytes. Yet, the patch notes are as compact as usual, hinting to unspecified improvements to the system performance.

YAnd as usual, you should keep in mind that this normally means that the performance of the operating system itself has been improved, not that of the games, so don’t expect better frame rates or anything that will make the actual games better.

At the moment of this writing the update isn’t yet available on the relevant Sony websites, and and you’ll need to use the option in the settings of your PS4 or PS4 Pro to start the download of the update and begin the installation. Later today you should be able to download the update from here if you’re in North America and from here if you’re in Europe.

If you’re interested about bigger updates, you can read about the latest relevant system software patch, which was numbered 5.50.
