Today Sony Interactive Entertainment made the system software update 5.56 for the PS4 available for download on the PlayStation Network.

The update weighs 460.1 megabytes, which is incidentally exactly the  same download size as 5.55. The patch notes are what you have probably come to expect from decimal updates:

"This system software update improves system performance."

As usual, you should keep in mind that this normally means that the performance of the operating system itself has been improved, not the performance of games, so don’t expect higher frame rates or anything that will make the actual games running on your PS4 better.

At the moment of this writing, the update isn't yet available on the North American site, while it's already up in Europe. That being said, you can use the option in the settings of your PS4 or PS4 Pro to start the download of the update and begin the installation. Later today you should be able to download the update from here if you’re in North America, and you can already find it here if you’re in Europe.

If you’re interested in bigger updates, you can read about the latest relevant system software patch, which was numbered 5.50.
