Sony deployed a brand new System Software Update for the PS4 console earlier today (March 23), with some brand new features for players to jump into.

Today's update brings the console's firmware to version 9.50 and launched alongside a brand new update for Sony's next-gen console, the PS5. Both consoles have been updated to include some brand new features such as improvements to the Game Base on PS5 and new party chat options on the PS4 console.

What's New In Today's PS4 Update?

Today's PS4 update comes in at around 490MB, with some new part chat features and Ukrainian language support for the console.

Although there isn't much to shout about in the latest PS4 update, players can now opt to create open or closed parties when they are creating a new party chat, as well as adjust the volume of each individual in the party.

PS4 System Software Update 9.50 Patch Notes (March 23)

Below you will find the official patch notes for the March 23 PS4 System Software Update, which brings the console firmware to version 9.50 with the following changes:

Main Features in the system software update

In Party, we've updated the following:

  • Now when you start a party, you can select either an open party or a closed party.
    • An open party lets your friends join without an invite. Friends of party members can also join.
    • A closed party is only for players you invite.
  • You can now individually adjust the voice chat volume of each player in a party.

Other updates features

  • We've added Ukrainian language support.
