PS4 Takes Back the NPD in January, while Microsoft Claims Software Sales Win for Xbox One

With the Xbox One winning the holidays in the United States, many were wondering if the momentum would continue in 2015, but at least for January that wasn’t the case, as the NPD just announced that the PS4 has brought the North American nation back under its wing.

On the other hand, Microsoft claimed that Xbox One grabbed a win for the most games sold on any platform. It also improved in year over year sales.

Software-wise, Dying Light was at the top, actually selling more on PS4, followed by the Xbox One version and PC. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was pushed in second place, but sold the most on Xbox One, followed by PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Grand Theft Auto V ended in third place, selling most on Xbox One, followed by PS4, Xbox 360 and PS3.

It’ll definitely be interesting to see the results for February in the never-ending battle between the two top-feeding consoles, especially considering that the Xbox One’s price has been (temporarily, as far as we know) sliced again. Will it be enough for it to bounce back at the top in the US?
