Yesterday, developer Games Farm and publisher Kalypso Media released a new gameplay trailer for Viking-themed action RPG, Vikings – Wolves of Midgard.

The new one minute and 21 second trailer essentially gives an overview-type look at the game’s brutal action RPG combat, its fearsome enemies, its unique “rage” mechanic, its upgrade tree, the devastating attacks you can pull off, and its requirement of tactics to outwit menacing bosses.

Never heard of Vikings – Wolves of Midgard? Well, here’s an elevator pitch, including a story overview:

Fast, brutal and tactical, the Action RPG Vikings – Wolves of Midgard takes you to the Shores of Midgard in the midst of Ragnarok, the end of days! Battle the fearsome Jotan, hordes of the undead and twisted monstrosities, as you strive to survive the growing cold that threatens to end all life, forever. Master a variety of mighty weapons, including sword and shield, two-handed hammers, dual-wielded axes and swift bows, and unleash devastating spells on your enemies.

Story Overview:
In Vikings – Wolves of Midgards you take up the role of a fierce Viking or merciless shieldmaiden facing the eternal cold and perilous beasts of Ragnarok, after the return of the Jotan, who seek vengeance against the Gods of Asgard. The world is on the road to perdition and the fate of Midgard hangs in the balance. But when the Fire and Frost Giants begin to merge their armies, they encounter your clan, the Ulfung – the Wolves of Midgard. Bloody, but unbowed following the destruction of your village. As clan chief, you must save Midgard from complete annihilation, and spearhead the charge to vanquish the fiendish creatures of the Fimbulwinter.
