As the Dragon Quest series is celebrating a major milestone with its 30th anniversary (which just happens to be today), Square Enix has been bringing over many of the series’ beloved titles to other territories, with the construction game Dragon Quest Builders officially confirmed for release in North America and Europe this fall.
In an update on the PlayStation Blog, Square Enix West Community Manager Dan Seto announced that Dragon Quest Builders will release in North America and Europe on PS4 and PS Vita in October 2016. The title will release both physically and digitally for the PS4 version, while the PS Vita version will be a digital-only release.
While taking inspiration from the world and characters of the beloved JRPG series, Dragon Quest Builders instead will provide a sandbox action experience much like the mega-popular Minecraft, as Seto mentioned that “you don”t have to have played any previous Dragon Quest game to understand and enjoy Dragon Quest Builders,” while also explaining that the game does include “an overarching main storyline” alongside the construction and RPG elements of the game.
Dragon Quest Builders is available now in Japan for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita, while the worldwide release will debut for PS4 and PS Vita in October 2016 – in the meantime, you can also check out a new trailer for the game and screenshots below:
