PS5 Reveal Event Gives a Very Sensual Look at the DualSense Controller

In the midst of the PS5 reveal event, a new video gave us a closer look at what the DualSense controller can do to stir up your senses.

Sony gave us our biggest look yet at the upcoming PS5 with its long-awaited reveal event, and for the most part, Sony delivered with a promising line-up of exclusives and new features. Alongside the big reveal of the console itself and a number of first-party games, Sony also took a moment to give us a closer look at the PS5’s controller, the DualSense, to see what it can really do.

During Sony’s PS5 reveal event, a new video aired that showed the DualSense controller in a bit more up-close fashion. The video showcased several 3D renders of the DualSense controller while highlighting its most notable features, such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, motion sensors, and its front-facing touchpad. The video also gave us a better look at its USB-C port at the top of the controller, alongside its microphone, speaker, and headphone jack at the bottom.

While Sony revealed a bunch of information on the DualSense controller back in April, the video gave a bit more of a direct showcase of how the controller is aiming to enhance player immersion through tactile feedback. Specifically, the DualSense is really highlighting the “Sense” part of its name with deeper feedback systems to draw players into the games that they are playing. At the very least, we can at least commend Sony for producing some very satisfying DualSense ASMR through the video.

Aside from the controller, Sony finally revealed what the actual system will look like, with an aesthetic that matches the black and white color scheme of the DualSense controller. Likewise, Sony will be offering two versions of the PS5 console when it releases this holiday: one with a disc drive, and one without for players that want to go all-digital for the next-generation.

The PS5 and DualSense controller are expected to arrive in holiday 2020. No firm release window or price point for the system was revealed just yet, but stay tuned for more information as we get closer to its launch.
